The Department of Arts and Cultural Sciences gathers a large set of disciplines. The multitude of fields of interest, themes and directions is rich and interdisciplinary. This multitude is constructed from each discipline. Partly they coincide in a set of profile areas. Currently, these profile areas are organised through four research nodes:
At the department, there are six PhD programs: Art history and visual studies, Book history, Ethnology, History of ideas, Information Studies and Musicology. The Cultural Sciences Research Seminar is the most important common arena of the department for academic discussion and critic.
