SASNET - Swedish South Asian Studies Network
Organisational unit: Division
SASNET is an interdisciplinary network for the promotion of research, education, and information about South Asia (India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives). SASNET's activities take place at Lund University, where it encourages a South Asian perspective in teaching and research through lectures, workshops, and conferences in cooperation with various departments and centers at the University. SASNET's mandate is also national and aims at promoting collaboration between Swedish as well as Nordic universities. It primarily does so through networking activities and the online circulation of a monthly newsletter that publicizes research on South Asia in the Nordic countries. SASNET supports the South Asian Student Association (SASA), which is a platform for education and cultural exchange between students at Lund University. SASNET is one of Lund University's Specialized Centers (USV). Its offices are at Biskopsgatan 5, Lund.
SASNET is primarily devoted to promoting South Asia related research within all disciplines at Lund University, but also keep track of such research at other Swedish universities. Through the Internet Gateway, all South Asia related research environments in Sweden are presented.
