Emma Fitzgerald received her PhD from the University of Sydney, Australia, in 2013, after completing her undergraduate education in mathematics and computer engineering, also at the University of Sydney. Her PhD thesis concerned vehicular networks, specifically road traffic management based on estimation of traffic accident risk. She then took up a postdoctoral position at the Department of Electrical and Information Technology at Lund University in Sweden, where she is currently a researcher. She has been a part of the FP7 project MESH-WISE, focusing on wireless mesh networking. Her research interests lie in cooperation and information exchange in wireless networks, as well as the Internet of Things.
