Myocardial perfusion single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) - MPS - is used to assess myocardial perfusion in patients with known or suspected ischemic heart disease.  Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) is the gold standard method for assessment of myocardial injury and cardiac function. Furthermore, CMR can be used to assess myocardial perfusion. The performance of MPS to assess myocardial injury, as well as the correlation of assessment of myocardial perfusion with MPS and CMR, is not fully understood, especially with new MPS technique - digital SPECT.
