Research

I am a doctoral candidate in Cognitive Semiotics at Lund University.

The object of my PhD research is to employ monomodal pictorial and multimodal verbopictorial rhetoric on street art considering it a genre of political sub discourse, in which the rhetorical figures as a cognitive tool still remain an unexplored terrain. My focus is to explore the figurative manifestations of (verbo)pictorial rhetoric on street art.

With this project I aim to bridge the gap between the fieldwork research I pursued on Athenian street art for the completion of my master’s thesis in linguistics and now the research for my doctoral studies in cognitive semiotics.

One of the main objectives of my PhD projectis to build up a digital archive for restoring, protecting, analyzing and visualizing street artworks with the implementation of GIS (Geographical Information System) technology.
