Ingrid Øra is the PI and main supervisor of the PhD students and postdocs in three ongoing projects.
1. Ovarian Function during and after Childhood Cancer Treatment
Helena Mörse, MD, PhD Student - Maria Elfving, MD, postdoc.
Together with Prof Claus Yding Anderson, RMC, Rigshospitalet, Copenhagen and Prof Aleksander Giwercman, RMC, SUS Malmö we conduct a prospective study of young girls and adolescents regarding ovarian function during and the first years after cancer treatment. In addition we study ovarian function and potential complication on metabolic, cardiac, bone mineralization of long time female childhood cancer survivors.
2. Lund Childhood Cancer Genetics (LCCG) study
Karl-Johan Stjernfelt, MD, PhD Student - Daniel Livendahl, Med Stud, PhD Student - Kristoffer von Stedingk, MSc, postdoc
The LCCG study was initiated in 2007 from the Pediatric Oncology Unit in collaboration with Prof Håkan Olsson, Oncology, Lund. All newly diagnosed children and adolescents are invited to participate in a study of familiar heredity of cancer and provide together with their patients blood samples for studies of potential genetic aberrations underlying cancer predisposition.
3. Risk Stratification and Differentiation of Neuroblastoma
Kristoffer von Stedingk, MSc, postdoc - Sofia Mohlin, MSc, postdoc
Preliminary results have revealed a genetic signature in neuroblastoma samples that predicts patients refractory to standard treatment. The signature score is to be tested in a prospective study. The cell-of-origin of the childhood tumor neuroblastoma during sympathetic nervous system development is unknown. In a preclinical model and international collaboration we aim to pinpoint these cells through molecular characterization.
