Malin Engfeldt is a Chemical Engineer who conducts research within the field of occupationally and environmentally caused skin disease with focus on contact dermatitis. In 2007 she defended her thesis in experimental dermatology, which dealt with different aspects of contact allergy to isocyanate plastics. She is an associated professor at Lund University since 2016.

Her research focuses on investigating which substances that can cause contact allergens that we meet in our environment and how they affect our skin. The main focus is to develop the diagnostic methods for detecting contact allergens, gain knowledge on why certain substances cause contact allergy, survey where in our daily life we are at risk to get exposed to allergens as well as to study how we through prevention can decrease the risk of getting allergic to the substances we meet at work or on our leisure time. All these aspects are studied in various projects involving fields as preservatives, metals, perfumes and plastics.

Malin Engfeldt has funding from Swedish Research Council for Health, Working Life and Welfare (Forte) and Hudfonden. She is a member of the Swedish Contact dermatitis Research Group, The Swedish Society of Occupational and Environmental dermatology and participates in the editorial board of the popular scientific paper Bulletin, which deals with issues regarding occupational and environmental medicine.
