Since August 2014, I am a fulltime PhD student in Health Sciences with specialization Physiotherapy at Lund University.

I took a bachelor's degree with honors in Physiotherapy from Bangladesh in 2004 and earned a master’s degree in International Health and a master’s degree in Public Health Nutrition in Sweden. I have worked as a Research Officer at the Dept. of Public Health Sciences at Karolinska Institute (KI) and also have been affiliated with the “Pediatric obesity” research team at the Pediatric unit (at CLINTEC) at KI, Stockholm. Before I started my PhD, I was involved in a variety of research projects related to overweight/obesity, physical activity, nutrition, epidemiology, women's and children's health, occupational health promotion and physiotherapy. Moreover, I have a long-time experience of working as a Physiotherapist in Bangladesh and in Sweden.

My current PhD research title is "Walking difficulties, mobility devices and activity avoidance in people ageing with Parkinson's disease". The aim is to gain an increased knowledge regarding walking difficulties, fear of falling, the use and perceived need of mobility devices and fall–related activity avoidance in people ageing with Parkinson's disease. This research project is based on a longitudinal cohort survey study with participants with Parkinson's disease recruited from three hospitals in southern Sweden, which includes a baseline data collection using state-of-the-art methodology, clinical assessments and observations, data analysis using quantitative methods and a 3-year follow-up. This project is conducted mainly within the Center for Ageing and Supportive Environments (CASE) and funded by MultiPark, the Strategic Research Area in neuroscience at Lund University. My main supervisor is Associate Professor Maria H Nilsson and co-supervisors are Professor Susanne Iwarsson and Professor Per Odin at Lund University.
