My research targets adult second language (L2) and bilingual acquisition and processing, and also gesture production and comprehension in acquisition, drawing on multiple methods ranging from speech and gesture analysis to behavioural and neurocognitive techniques. I worked at the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics 2000-2009 where I headed the research group The Dynamics of Multilingual Processing 2003-2009 with Prof. P. Indefrey. I am also co-founder of the Nijmegen Gesture Centre with Prof. A. Özyurek, the first centre of its kind. In 2012 I was awarded one of 16 Wallenberg Scholar grants for a project dedicated to Embodied billingualism.
