A promising alternative to reduce the CO2 emissions in the transportation sector is the replacement of fossil fuels by biofuels. To avoid competition with the food market, processes to produce fuels from non-edible biomass (corn stover, wheat straw, wood, etc.) were developed.

The problem with this kind of materials is that they have other potential uses, which increases its price. My research aims at reducing the biofuel production cost through a shift of feedstock. In particular, the proposed solution is a biochemical process in which bioethanol and biogas are produced from a mixture of manure and straw.
