Dr Nilsson has a solid research background with about 30 years experience in the area of antibody immunochemistry and technology, and more than 20 years of industrial experience (as R&D manager/director) from design and development of biopharmaceuticals and medical devices for therapy of cancer diseases. He has had the overall responsibility for the development of an antibody conjugate from idea to approval for clinical use. Rune Nilsson has a Ph.D. degree in biochemistry at faculty of Science, and is an associate professor in Tumor Immunology at the Medical Faculty, and has a position as senior researcher at the Department of Oncology.

During his time as R&D manager 1984-2007, he actively participated in the radioimmunotargeting project and was also assistant supervisor for 5 PhD students. A position as principle investigator is not possible for individuals working outside the university.

Dr Nilsson has about 40 publications and 10 patents/patent applications.
