Sune Bechmann Pedersen is principal investigator of the project Holidays behind the Iron Curtain: The Politics of Scandinavian Tourism to Communist Europe, 1945-1989, funded by the Swedish Research Council (VR:2016-06615). He also contributes to the project Transborder television. Scandinavia and the GDR in the 1970s, funded by the Crafoord Foundation. He has published on film and memory in Germany and the Czech Republic after the fall of Communism and is working on a book project about the history of Scandinavian tourism to Central and Eastern Europe in the 20th century. His areas of expertise include the history of tourism, the cultural Cold War, contemporary Czech and German history, European memory cultures, and film history.

I have taught courses in English, Danish, and Swedish at Lund University, University of Copenhagen, and University of Gothenburg. Moreover, I have guest lectured at University of Amsterdam, University of Central Lancashire, and Charles University, Prague.
