Physical and virtual spaces among the Palestinian diaspora in Malmö

Abstract

Drawing on the work of Hanafi (2001), and Shohat (2006) among others and through the construction of a Palestinian diasporic topography of Malmö, this article focuses on the interrelationship of multiple spaces of action and interaction of Palestinians, locally and transnationally. In addition, given the different identifications and migration trajectories of Malmö Palestinians (originating in the West Bank, Gaza but also Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and beyond as well as belonging to different generational groups) and seeks to address a number of questions such as:
