For her series TRIPLE SEVEN the photographer Anne Lass visited one hundred gambling halls throughout Berlin. The photographs transform the deceitful purpose of the desolate interiors devoid of humans into compositions of timeless beauty. Philipp Caspari likes to paint toys eversince he inherited a giant trove of them from his late father. In his meticulously painted images Caspari reveals a deep sympathy for his father’s collecting obsession as an outlet for his imagination and melancholy. In BULLSEYE, Bertrand Chavarria-Aldrete films the view from his livingroom window in Paris. With the regularity of a pendulum, the gondola of the Boomerang, complete with screaming occupants, swings into the sublime calm of the blue sky. Ruth Wiesenfeld’s sound work CASINO fuses background noises of gambling halls with sonic textures of an old accordion. The rides in Daniel Wiesenfeld’s series JOY RIDE don’t seem to be much fun. But perhaps the riders will be flooded by happiness hormones, once the danger is averted. Curated by Daniel Wiesenfeld
