Dialectical behavioral therapy for adolescents with ADHD

Activity: Examination and supervisionSupervision of PhD students

Description

ADHD is a chronic condition involving poor attention, impulsivity, and hyperactivity that can cause significant impairments in everyday functioning. Individuals with ADHD often have comorbid symptoms of anxiety and depression. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) was originally developed for use with adolescents and adults who suffer from symptoms of Borderline Personality Disorder. The treatment was modified for use with adults with ADHD and yielded improvements in overall functioning and emotion-related difficulties. The present research involves further adaptations of the treatment and evaluation with clinically-referred adolescents with a primary diagnosis of ADHD.
