This talk focuses on the role of grammar in English language teaching in Swedish upper-secondary schools. International research on teacher-led grammar tasks within a communicative curriculum will be presented, followed by results from two different research projects on Swedish pupils’ understanding and use of English grammar. The audience are invited to reflect upon and discuss how different kinds of grammar tasks may be integrated and used in their own teaching contexts.
