Activity: Participating in or organising an eventOrganisation of workshop/ seminar/ course

Description

The Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity of its fifteenth meeting (COP15) will take place on 7-19th of December, in Montreal. The meeting will finalize and adopt the post-2020 global biodiversity framework, which will become the leading document on how to preserve and sustainably use biodiversity for governments worldwide.

We invite you to a joint BECC and LU Land Grand Seminar where we will listen to experts in different fields connected to biodiversity, decision-making, and possibilities for implementing such a framework.

Expect talks that will give you insight in the Convention on Biological Diversity, the status of species loss and ecosystem health, the Swedish government’s stance ahead of the meeting, monetizing nature’s contribution to people, and the issue of fairness related to implementation of the framework, while also discussing what can be learnt from UNFCCC’s COP-processes.

After the presentations follows an on-site workshop for interested participants, focusing on future collaboration between universities and society, on the seminar's topic. Urgent action will be needed to jumpstart its implementation at the scale that the current loss of biodiversity requires.
