Historical Connections Between Sweden and Turkey

Elżbieta Święcicka, former Research Assistant at SUITS, Joachim Östlund, Researcher at the Department of History, Lund University, and Gustaf Fryksén, Research Assistant at the Department of History, Lund University will present their Archive Listing Project on the historical connections between Sweden and Turkey. The workshop will take place at 13:00 on 21 October. The purpose of the workshop is twofold: to present previous and ongoing research projects by the Ottoman Studies Group in Lund (OSLU) and to present future research projects. OSLU are focused on archive research in Sweden, Europe and Turkey and inspired by methods within the field of global history. Thanks to newly discovered archives in Sweden and beyond it is possible to present a new and challenging picture of the Swedish-Ottoman shared history.
