Description
Johannes Magnus' (1488-1544) Historia de omnibus Gothorum Sueonumque regibus has often been accused of lacking in truthfulness - but thos is a charge that might be laid at the door of almost any Renaissance historian. However, the importance of truth is stressed by both Johannes himself and by others, which indicates that truth was something else for them than it is for us. This paper is an attempt of tracing Johannes Magnus' idea of truth by examining his usage of sources.Period | 2012 Nov 8 → 2012 Nov 10 |
