In 2011 the Ukrainian government allowed tourism in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, intending to remind tourists of the spaces rejuvenation while giving hope to a nuclear future. Thus, turning the Soviet time capsule into a space of creativity and exploration. How does images from and of the Zone reflect on the government’s intention of turning a space despair into a place of hope?
