Description

The Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation turns 50.
The history of the foundation, which has had such an impact on new music, began in 1973, when Benjamin Britten became its first prizewinner. Since then, the foundation has not only honored the most important personalities in musical life, but has also supported countless projects, often making them possible in the first place. To mark the anniversary, we are now joining forces with the Foundation to invite you to a panel discussion that will explore current trends in New Music. How might composing develop in the coming years? What role should and can institutions play in this? Composers from two generations – Jessie Cox and Iris ter Schiphorst -, music journalist Florian Hauser and curator Berno Odo Polzer will discuss the topic. The conversation will be flanked by a performance by Ensemble NAMES from Salzburg, which will present works by Luke Bedford and Øyvind Torvund
