Description

We are in a post-covid cultural environment. After two years of extra crisis support, the cultural budget is now shrinking. How does this affect Malmö's organizers and institutions for contemporary art music when they decide on their programs? What does this mean for the audience? What does it mean for the work towards greater equality and diversity in the field of contemporary art music?

This panel brings together representatives from some of Malmö's contemporary art music and experimental music scenes to find out what challenges they face in the current cultural climate and how they see the future. The conversation will examine how the space and willingness to take risks is affected by a shrinking budget, how inflation has had a noticeable impact on organizers, artists and their audiences, and where Malmö's experimental and contemporary art music scenes see themselves in 20 years.
