Description

Talk “Social Robots for Social Institutions”. Abstract. Outline of a model of embodied and embedded human-robot interaction for social institutions that satisfies conditions for sustainability, transparency, and accessibility, exploring social learning and continuous learning alongside reinforcement and regular ML. The basic principles of the model are that the social dimension of life is fundamental, social cognition is irreducible, social interaction is a dynamic process that develops in the material-cultural context of the real world, and humans and robots take complementary roles. It is argued realizing these principles requires making other design choices than those regularly used in social robots. In: Workshop 2 Roboticists' Perspective on Social Robots in Social Institutions. Organizers A. Clodic, R. Hakli.
