Teaching sustainability without loosing hope

Two researchers and teachers at Copenhagen Business School (CBS) and two researchers and teachers from Lund University meet in a conversation with four students from the two schools. The participants discuss how we can educate and be educated about the climate crisis.

The academy's role in society has been given a prominent role during the crises our societies have faced in recent years. We are in the middle of a climate crisis with increased migration, economic decline, a pandemic and a war in Europe, which creates a sensitive security policy situation. Proven knowledge is needed to solve these crises. But, strong autocratic winds are blowing across the world with ideas that question scientific findings and undermine trust in society's institutions and democratic governance.

This discussion will take these questions as its' starting points: How do we work at two universities in a transnational region like Öresund to teach our students in this day and age? What can we learn from each other and can we collaborate to develop our teaching? How do we provide relevant and fact-based knowledge about the problems we face at the same time as caring about the well-being of our students? What do students want to get out of their studies? How can the academy work to create hope for the future for the students? How can the academy contribute to spreading hope among today's and tomorrow's students?
