Description
The Department of Social Anthropology and History of the University of the Aegean. The Laboratory for Ethnographic Approaches to the Study of Language (LESoL).The goal of LESoL is to forward the ongoing dialogue between contemporary sociolinguistics and the social sciences, with an emphasis on ethnographic approaches (within linguistics) and linguistically relevant research (within ethnography).
My invited talk entitled "Urban Creativity: Street art as a form of expression and communication in urban landscape" (in Greek) is part of the series of seminars “Language, Society, and Ethnography” to be held on Tuesday evenings in Fall 2018.
The talk discussed street art from a cognitive semiotics perspective addressing the questions:
1) how street artworks can be interpreted in the light of metaphorical conceptualizations
2) how these are related to the semiotic systems of language and depiction by taking into account their quite frequent interaction
3) street art in abandoned places - fresh data from the field
