Thirty years have passed since the Oslo Accords were signed between Israel and the Palestinians. Oslo was an unusual and quite fascinating event, certainly from an Israeli perspective, whose objectives and negotiating team from the outset were rather unclear.
This lecture critically reflects and explains the events that took place during 1992 and 1993. Based on dozens of in-depth interviews with key figures in the Oslo peace process and in subsequent peace talks, the lecture further explains why the process was initiated and what lessons can be learned from it. How can we, with 30 years hindsight, evaluate the Oslo peace process in the history of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict?
The seminar/roundtable will be under Chatham House rule.
