    MAX IV Laboratory

    Description

    State of the art Small Angle X-ray Scattering (SAXS) beamline with possibilities to perform X-ray Photon Correlation Spectroscopy (XPCS) experiments. Currently is in construction phase. The beamline is planned to be open for external users in 2019. Many techniques will be available, among them: SAXS, BioSAXS, SAXS/WAXS, Time Resolved SAXS, microbeam SAXS and XPCS for solution or solid state samples.

    Equipment and resources

    The beamline will be equipped with many different sample environments. At the moment, only the BioSAXS autoloader and the SURF setup (simultaneous SAXS/Spectroscopy system) are in construction phase. Other equipment will be purchased or customized in the future.
    Detectors: Pilatus 1M detector. Two new X-ray detectors with state of the art technology are in the budget of the project.

    Management of the infrastructure

    The beamline is headed by a beamline scientist, time for experiments is allocated through a peer review process by an external program advisory committee. The scientific scope of the beamline is defined in interaction with the management of MAX IV Laboratory and the Scientific Advisory Committee.
