    Infrastructure Details

    Acronym

    ICOS Sweden

Name of national/international infrastructure this infrastructure belongs to

The national infrastructure ICOS Sweden (www.icos-sweden.se ) is the Swedish National Network within ICOS RI (www.icos-ri.eu). ICOS Sweden is a consortium of six partners – Lund University (host), University of Gothenburg, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Uppsala University, Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute, and The Swedish Polar Research Secretariat.

    Description

ICOS RI (www.icos-ri.eu) is a pan-European research infrastructure, which provides long-term measurements of harmonized and high precision scientific data on greenhouse gas fluxes in the atmosphere, over the ocean, and at the ecosystem level. ICOS RI is coordinated and integrated by the ICOS European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC). ICOS ERIC was established by the decision of the European Commission in November 2015, with the statutory seat in Finland. At present, ICOS RI is running approx. 180 stations in 16 countries.

    Equipment and resources

ICOS Sweden focuses on typical Swedish terrestrial and marine ecosystems. The RI’s stations and data contribute to a better understanding of the GHG dynamics of Sweden and its neighbouring countries. ICOS Sweden contributes with three Atmosphere stations, two Ocean stations and seven Ecosystem stations (three forests, three mires, one marine flux tower). The Atmosphere stations continuously measure data on GHG concentration profiles in the atmosphere. Ecosystem stations provide data on turbulent exchange of GHGs and energy, a wide range of meteorological parameters, and data on other ecosystem parameters. Ocean stations measure carbon dioxide and other gases from ocean surface waters and the near-surface atmosphere. The ICOS Sweden RI is in place and most stations have been delivering data since 2014. The RI has contributed to an increasing number of scientific activities since then. For more information, please visit https://www.icos-sweden.se/stations

    Digital and physical collections

Data from ICOS Sweden stations are submitted to the ICOS Carbon Portal (www.ICOS-CP.eu). All data is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 international licence, which provides full open access following the FAIR principles.
Research output connected to theLund University Research Portal includes only projects and publications which involve researchers at Lund University. For the full list of publications, please visit https://www.icos-sweden.se/publications. For information about research projects using ICOS Sweden RI, visit https://www.icos-sweden.se/research.

    Services provided

All data productas are available through the ICOS Carbon Portal. ICOS data, measured and processed following the ICOS protocols are available as NRT level 1 data and final quality controlled data products (level 2). Elaborated products are also produced through the ICOS Carbon Portal (Level 3). For more details read https://www.icos-sweden.se/data.

Physical access is provided to the all ICOS Sweden sites for researchers’ field work, courses and excursions. Please, contact the respective station to plan your visit (https://www.icos-sweden.se/contact).
