The Lund Luminescence Laboratory is a research laboratory at the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences. Our main focus on using luminescence to determine the age of sediments, but we also date material from archaeological contexts and do other luminescence-related research. The laboratory houses three Risø TL/OSL-readers, with options to do OSL, pulsed OSL, IRSL and TL, as well as a SUERC portable reader. In the adjoining rooms mechanical and chemical preparation of samples can be carried out under darkroom conditions.

Optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) dating of quartz and infrared stimulated luminescence (IRSL) dating of feldspar can be done at the Lund Luminescence Laboratory. Sample submission should only be done after prior agreement with the lab; our capacity, particularly for large sample batches, is unfortunately limited. We can also provide advice on sampling, and sample tubes can be borrowed if needed. To make sure the analyses will be as good as possible, you must provide the necessary data for each sample on the sample submission form.
