Name of national/international infrastructure this infrastructure belongs to

    MultiPark

    Description

The mouse behavioural platform is an infrastructure where three laboratories with equipment are available to assess mice's cognitive, affective, and motor functions. It is located at the BMC, Building C, floor 10,as part of the Invivo CCM facilities.

    Equipment and resources

The Mouse Behavioural Platform consists of 3 laboratories:
1- Room C1044a (two test modules):
    • Barnes Maze (test of spatial reference memory).
    • Flexible space module with a ceiling-mounted camera (ANY-maze software) accommodating space and hardware/software for these tests: Elevated plus maze, Y-maze, Passive Avoidance.

2- Room C1042a (two test modules):
    • Open field system (8 boxes) with video tracking (ANY-maze software).
    • Flexible space module for non-automatized tests (cylinder test, stepping test, corridor test, ratings of animal behaviours in individual cages). A tripod-supported video camera (GoPro Hero 6) is available to film mice during these tests.
    • Rotarod and related hardware are also in this space.

    3- Room A0934:
This is an additional room for non-automatized tests, rotarod, and grip-strength meter in case room C1042a gets overbooked.

    Services provided

The Mouse Behavioural platform offers modules for testing motor and cognitive functions in mice. Three laboratories space are available for different behavioural tests. It also offers support in managing booking lists and monitoring the equipment status by a close interaction with partners and users.

    Management of the infrastructure

The platform is supervised and run by a management group communicating to the users, partners and CCM. The management group includes research staff with direct experience of mouse behaviour. Its joint expertise covers all the different testing procedures carried out in the platform.
