The lab is set up to extract and analyze organic compounds in geological samples, such as sediments, rocks, peat and similar. One of our main focuses is reconstructions of past climate and environmental change.
The laboratory is well set up to work with various geological samples, such as rocks and sediments. We have equipment and set-up for extraction and sample pre-treatment, including an automated Soxhlet apparatus (Buchi B-811), rotovapor and wet chemistry facility. The instrumentation consists of a gas-chromatograph with flame ionization detector (Agilent 7890b), and in collaboration with Department of Physical Geography and Ecosystem Sciences we have access to a gas chromatograph-mass-spectrometer (Shimadzu QP-2010).
At the moment we are not available to offer services such as preparing or running samples on a regular basis. For discussion and information about possibilities, please contact Karl Ljung.
The laboratory is managed by Karl Ljung.
