The aim of the research group Biodiversity and Conservation Science is to advance the scientific understanding of how consequences of human activities affect biodiversity and leads to changed conditions for human beings, plants and animals.
We emphasize the fruitful combination of basic and applied research, to understand the effect of agriculture and forestry on the persistence of populations and the generation of ecosystem services such as pollination, biological control and carbon sequestration. An important part of our research is to understand the relative merits of different strategies to integrate conservation with agricultural and silvicultural production in terms of conservation goals, ecosystem service flows and resilience in a rapidly changing world.
