The Cardiac Inflammation Research Group at Lund University investigates immune and inflammatory mechanisms involved in cardiac disease. In animal models, we are developing novel therapies that target these mechanisms, aiming to reduce myocardial damage and improve cardiac function in myocardial infarction, myocarditis and septic cardiomyopathy. We are also performing clinical studies in large patient cohorts in order to identify novel mechanisms and mediators of importance for short- and long-term prognosis in these patients. We aim to find mediators that can be used as prognostic biomarkers and treatment targets to improve patient evaluation and clinical management.
