Our unit conducts research related to alcohol, drug and prescription drug disorders, and gambling disorder and other non-substance-related addictive conditions. Also, a major focus of our research is the co-morbidity and other related problems, including psychiatric disorders, physical disorders, social complications and criminal behavior. Our research is clinical and epidemiological, and projects are carried out in close collaboration with the hospital system in Skåne and other parts of Sweden, social authorities, the criminal justice system, and with research groups working with addictive disorders and risk behavior in other countries, mainly in Europe and the US. For example, the research of our group is integrated with the clinical work of several clinical units within Malmö Addiction Center, such as alcohol, gambling and drug use disorder units. Our research unit is integrated with training of students in health care professions, and with policy work in the addiction field.
