Unit profile

Description

We embrace the big picture of dementia and memory diseases. This includes the course from origin and early detection to treatment. The scope includes a wide range of diagnoses, among these Alzheimer’s Disease, Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinson’s Disease. Early detection of Alzheimer’s Disease, by using new markers, is one of our most promising fields. Spinal fluid test concepts, developed by us, are now in daily clinical use. In clinical studies we promote innovative use of modern medical imaging concepts, making it possible to visualize the neurological processes in the human brain. The research group is a driving force in The Swedish BIOFINDER Study. The study has been initiated to discover key mechanisms in Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and other neurodegenerative disorders. Health care development in the field of memory diseases can support the patients’ daily life. We are developing new health care methodology in collaboration with Swedish health care providers.
