Unit profile

Research

We are investigating the clinical consequences of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and the effects of exercise training, dialysis modality and parathyroidectomy. IN RENEXC, a large randomized controlled exercise training study, we are investigating long-term effects of exercise training in patients with CKD 3-5. We are analysing physical function, cardiovascular morbidity, quality of life, body composition and patient compliance to the exercise prescription. In registry studies (The Swedish Renal Registry) we are investigating the effects of dialysis modality and parathyroidectomy on morbidity and mortality. We hope to further the understanding of the mechanisms responsible for reduced physical function, cardiovascular morbidity, mortality in CKD. We have a multiprofessional and multidisciplinary approach both in the clinic and in our research. Thus enabling us to work at several levels and study epidemiology, treatment and prevention.

UN Sustainable Development Goals

In 2015, UN member states agreed to 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all. Our work contributes towards the following SDG(s):
