Unit profile

Research

Children with weak language and at risk for language disorder among mono-and multilingual children - is early identification possible? How do we support language development and vocabulary learning? Why do people become hoarse and how to improve voice health and voice healing? Can we support listening and learning in a noisy classroom? How does hearing, language comprehension, memory, and concentration influence listening and learning? Can teachers’ voice use and language learning interactions with students be improved? Can children develop reading and writing skills by observing peers? These are examples of reasearch questions on human communication and communication disorders. We develop prevention and intervention methods to help individuals with, for example, language or reading/writing disorder, hearing loss, or voice problems. Our research contributes to functional communication in mono and multi-lingual individuals with functional variation in speech, language, voice and hearing.
