Unit profile

Description

The research group in criminal law covers a wide range of research topics and methods. A common denominator for our research is an interest in criminal law in society, with a focus on how criminal law and procedural rules and principles are shaped by, and shape, the society we live in. Our research is often characterized by a combination of traditional legal analysis on one side, and methods and theories drawn from sociology, criminology, philosophy, and cultural studies on the other. The researchers in the group are part of various interdisciplinary networks and conduct research that relates to other legal disciplines beyond criminal law, such as legal theory, medical law, labor law, and feminist legal studies. We work on research projects addressing issues related to criminal procedure, foundational concepts and principles in criminal law, historical perspectives, research on specific crimes, and the sanctioning system. This includes both national and international law.
