The department consists of the following divisions: Division of ALM, Digital Cultures and Publishing Studies, Division of Book History, Division of Ethnology, Divison of History of Ideas and Sciences, Division of Art History and Visual Studies, Divison of Fashion Sciences, Division of Musicology and Intermedia Studies, Centre for Oresund Region Studies and Sound Environment Centre.

The Department of Arts and Cultural Sciences brings together a wide range of disciplines under one roof. The diversity of research fields, themes and specialisations is rich and interdisciplinary. This diversity is built on the research traditions of each subject. The department has six PhD programmes: Information Studies, Book History, Ethnology, History of Ideas and Sciences, Art History and Visual Studies, and Musicology.

Several researchers and research projects at the department are also organized in research nodes. These nodes are multidisciplinary, consist of several active researchers and also run the seminar series.
