The Department of EIT conducts high-quality research in a variety of areas within electrical engineering and computer science and the activities span a large part of the ICT-area. About 100 people are active in research, divided in seven research laboratories. These are Broadband Communications, Communications Engineering, Electromagnetic Theory, Integrated Electronic Systems, Nano Electronics, Networks and Security and Signal processing. Each lab consists of one or several research groups and across the different research groups, the department is also heading several excellence centers. The Department of EIT is a major academic platform for local industry in the area of telecommunications, IoT, automotive, network video and more. Continuous transfer of EIT-research and EIT-graduates to businesses like Ericsson, Sony, Bosch, Axis and other key high-tech firms represent an extremely important knowledge-bridge between the regional academy and industry.
