Unit profile

Our department carries out research that covers all age groups – from the tiniest, yet unborn, babies to the oldest among the elderly. Health sciences research is all about improving people’s health and quality of life and takes as its starting point the very activity that is to be investigated. The research is essential not only from the point of view of the individual but also from a social perspective, since good research within this field can be expected to lead to better healthcare. Find our research groups through the list “sub-units” to the right.

The research within the group aims to increase knowledge about what contributes to a sustained healthy life in activity and movement. This includes health promotion, prevention, and rehabilitation. The base is a holistic view on persons and their surroundings. In the research group, we also develop tests and measurement methods. The research group teaches in many programs within the Faculty of Medicine and research within higher education is therefore another focus area.
