Description

The Department of Sociology was established in 1947 and is today one of the largest departments at the Faculty of Social Sciences, with about 80 employees and more than 700 full-time students. The department is located right in the heart of Lund, in the campus area "Paradiset", renowned for its beautiful architecture and leafy surroundings, and situated just a few minutes away from the magnificent Lund Cathedral, the central railway station and the Social Sciences Faculty Library and Lund University (main) Library. The Department of Sociology has a long and robust tradition of broad, dedicated and diverse teaching and research. Today the department hosts three disciplines – gender studies, social anthropology and sociology. Our researchers are engaged in a variety of fields, creating a rich research environment, which is also reflected in our wide range of courses and programmes, many taught in English. We offer education at all levels, from bachelor’s and master’s studies, to PhD studies.
