Unit profile

Description

The research group studies complex health challenges in human populations using register-based epidemiology and bioinformatic analyses. Our goal is to understand how heredity, environment and social factors influence the risk of disease and health issues across the lifespan. Our research is based on extensive data from population-based cohorts and national health registries and also aims to contribute to better prevention, earlier diagnosis and more personalized care. The group's home is environmental medicine, and we have a broad interdisciplinary interest that also includes areas such as intellectual disability (ID), diabetes, and other chronic and complex diseases. We work actively in both national and international research collaborations, and are committed to translating scientific insights into societal benefit.
