Research at the Division of Functional Ecology focuses on understanding ecological and evolutionary processes through the study of anthropogenic pollutants and environmental change, biogeochemistry, and aquatic, evolutionary, microbial and soil ecology. We aim for mechanistic understanding of such processes via, for example, organismal and system interactions and dynamics and their consequences for ecosystem and evolutionary phenomena. Our work addresses both fundamental ecological questions and applied issues like ecosystem service management and conservation.
