Our research group is studying health from an interdisciplinary perspective. Health is a complex concept and there is no comprehensive and generally accepted definition. Health can be viewed from different perspectives, for example, medical, existential, psychological, philosophical, cultural or sociological perspectives. Interaction between the individual, group and society is of major importance for the understanding, managing and practice of health. Factors related to both the individual and society affect our health, for instance housing and housing environment, education, work and income, social relations and heredity.

Interdisciplinary research is a method of doing research in teams or individually that integrates information, data, techniques, research tools, perspectives, concepts and/or theories from two or more disciplines or areas of knowledge in order to deepen the fundamental understanding of a problem or to solve problems that lie outside the focus of an individual discipline or research area. Ongoing research focuses on early detection of children with atypical development and their need for support measures, parental support for parents whose children were born prematurely, pedagogically oriented health research in the prehospital area, health science research focused on radiography and research focused on elderly and mental illness.
