Description

Our research group conducts cardiometabolic, cardiovascular, nephrological, and gastrointestinal research. Prof Peter M Nilsson is responsible for research on early vascular ageing, insulin resistance, metabolic abnormalities, and type 2 diabetes. Both epidemiological and genetic aspects are covered. Our research on the importance of inflammatory and metabolic factors for development of peripheral artery disease and aortic aneurysm is led by Prof Anders Gottsäter. Prof Bodil Ohlsson is responsible for research in gastroenterology, aiming to clarify interactions between disease and diet in disease manifestations from the gastrointestinal tract, as well as how neuropathy affects the function of various organs. Nephrological research is led by Professor Anders Christensson, and focused on new GFR markers, early phases of chronic kidney disease and their impact on other organ systems, and cardiorenal diseases in collaboration with local and international experts in laboratory medicine.
