Unit profile

Research

Systemic sclerosis, SSc, is a rare rheumatologic disease where immun activation leads to vascular damage and fibrosis in skin and internal organs. Half of the population will die from complications from heart or lungs, mostly lung fibrosis or pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Our projects aim at early pathogenic mechanisms and biomarkers for early diagnosis and to monitor the disease and therapy.
