Unit profile

Description

The Neuronano Research Center, NRC (https://www.neuronano.lu.se/), is a cross-disciplinary research platform at Lund University, headed by Prof. Jens Schouenborg. The vision of NRC is to improve quality of life for disabled people, and individuals with neurodegenerative disease, by listening to, understanding and talking to the nervous system by means of neuroelectronic junctions.

Research

The NRC focus on developing miniaturized, and truly biocompatible, technology that permit long-term interactive communication with neural networks in the brain and spinal cord in physiological conditions. This neurotechnology has the potential, not only to revolutionize the understanding of fundamental brain functions, but also to help the severely disabled patients suffering from a range of neurological illness such as paralysis or movement disorders, Parkinson’s disease, intractable depression, epilepsy or chronic pain.
