NEXTG2COM is a competence center with excellent research in future advanced communication systems. NEXTG2COM is a competence center with excellent research in future advanced communication systems. In NEXTG2COM, academia, industry and public actors collaborate with a systems perspective that includes everything from wireless communication technology and networks, software, data and security through relevant application areas (advanced digitalization). The aim is a paradigm shift from the pipeline network infrastructure as offered by 5G, into future fully integrated general purpose platforms, utilizing recent machine learning (ML) advancements for the next generation communication and computational infrastructures and applications.

Research at NEXTG2COM is organised in six themes: (1) Communication and Compute Infrastructures, (2) Communication, Sensing and Positioning, (3) Cooperative and Autonomous Robotics, (4) Integrated Data Engineering and Machine Learning, (5) Software Plattforms and Continous Engineering, and (6) Demonstrators, Tests and System Integration. Collaborating with the focus to: 1) Transform today's infrastructure and application technologies into integrated platforms, for a variety of applications, with integrated machine learning capabilities. 2) Integrate technology layers and components into complete systems. 3) Develop infrastructure technologies and design methodologies for next-generation communication and computing systems.
