Research

Research in packaging logistics focuses on packaging and its impact on logistics. The research areas are ranging from applied, industry related research to theoretical and methodological developments for the packaging logistics discipline. The focus is currently on how the package can be used to create an added value and starts with the packaging design process and how it can be integrated with the product development process. In addition environmental issues, e-commerce, customer service are addressed as well as complexity theory for mapping of existing packaging systems, agent based and discrete event modeling and simulation of packaging systems as well as the packaging role in supply chains. Furthermore in order to advance the packaging logistics discipline emphases are put on method developments where different types of modeling and simulation techniques are used.
